Ok ok, this isn’t a ‘I hate Linktree’ post…well it kinda is but I want to help you with getting seen online and Linktree isn’t the way to do it!
I’ll keep it short and sweet or I’ll go off on a tangent but essentially…
You have multiple places you want to direct your audience right?
That might be to various services you offer, perhaps a free download you want them to get, visiting your website, signing up to something. Whatever it is. It makes sense to have these links all in one place so you can have one link in that Instagram bio that will help them get to the right place.
Right?
Now, sure Linktree is great (there are others but let’s just stick with this one as it’s the one most people know). It allows you to have a clear page with buttons to direct your audience to the right place.
The free version gives you some flexibility to make the design work with your brand colours so they’re at least similar. The paid version means you have a branded page with your own background, logo, brand colours etc.
Great huh? It just makes sense!
BUT, to help with your Google ranking and to create a fully branded experience that builds trust with your audience, you really need your audience to be getting straight on your website. Not via an external site that will get the benefits instead of you!
This is especially true if one of your links is directing your audience to an external page anyway, like for a sign up or download. So instead of YOU getting those hits to your website, you’ve given that website view to Linktree and lost them. They may come back but even so, you want to get as much traffic to your website as possible. Not send them to Linktree!
So how do you get all of your page links in one place so you only need the one link on your bio?
Simple!
If you have your own website (which I hope you do, if not – get on that pretty sharpish!), simply create a new page. You can even have this page set to only be visible on mobile devices since you’re probably going to just use this on your Instagram bio.
Design the page to fit with your own brand style guidelines.
Add your buttons with links to where they need to go.
Publish the page. Then use that page url to put as your bio link on your Instagram account.
Now when anyone clicks that link in your bio, they’re going straight to your website, not Linktree.
More traffic to your site = a higher Google ranking and more chance of showing up in search results.
You’re welcome! 🙂
